KRUGER HIPPO RETREAT

WEEKEND GIVEAWAY – TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Promoter

1.1. This promotional competition is conducted by Kruger Hippo Retreat (“the Promoter”).

1.2. The competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, Meta or any other social media platform.

1.3. By entering the competition, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

 

2. Competition Period

2.1. The competition opens on 5 October 2026 at 6pm.

2.2. Entries close on 20 October 2026 at 6pm.

2.3. Entries received after the closing date will not be considered.

 

3. The Prize

3.1. One winner will receive:

A 2-night stay at Kruger Hippo Retreat in Phalaborwa for up to 10 guests. There are 10 beds available in the home, and no additional children or guests will be permitted above this number. 

3.2. The prize includes accommodation only unless otherwise expressly stated.

3.3. The prize does not include:

  • Transport to or from Kruger Hippo Retreat;

  • Flights;

  • Meals or groceries;

  • Activities, game drives or entrance fees to Kruger National Park;

  • Travel insurance;

  • Personal expenses; or

  • Any other costs not specifically stated as part of the prize.

3.4. The prize is subject to availability and must be redeemed between 20 October 2026 and 30th June 2027.

3.5. The prize is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other alternative prize.

3.6. The Promoter reserves the right to offer a reasonable alternative date of equivalent value if the selected dates are unavailable.

 

4. Who May Enter

4.1. The competition is open to South African residents aged 18 years or older.

4.2. Employees, directors, owners, representatives and agents of Kruger Hippo Retreat, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to enter.

4.3. The Promoter reserves the right to request proof of identity and/or residence from the winner.

 

5. How to Enter

To enter, participants must complete all of the following requirements:

  1. Follow @KrugerHippoRetreat on Instagram or Facebook;

  2. Like the official competition post;

  3. Comment on the competition post and tag friends;

  4. Share the competition post to their Story.

5.1. Only entries meeting all the stated requirements will qualify.

5.2. Participants may enter once, provided each entry complies with these Terms and Conditions.

5.3. Tagging the same person repeatedly, using fake accounts, automated accounts or fraudulent methods of entry will not qualify.

 

6. Winner Selection

6.1. One winner will be selected by random draw from all eligible entries received before the closing date.

6.2. The draw will take place on or about 20 October 2026.

6.3. The winner will be contacted via direct message from the official Kruger Hippo Retreat social media account.

6.4. The winner will be required to respond within 72 hours of being contacted.

6.5. If the selected winner cannot be contacted, does not respond within the specified period, or is found to be ineligible, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner.

6.6. The Promoter’s decision regarding the selection and eligibility of the winner will be final, subject to applicable law.

 

7. Winner Announcement

7.1. The winner may be announced on the official Kruger Hippo Retreat social media pages.

7.2. The winner’s name or social media handle may be published for the purpose of announcing the competition result.

7.3. The winner may decline any invitation to participate in promotional activities or have their image used for marketing purposes.

 

8. Booking and Stay Conditions

8.1. The winner must arrange their stay directly with Kruger Hippo Retreat.

8.2. The stay is subject to the property’s standard booking, house and occupancy rules.

8.3. The maximum number of guests included in the prize is 10.

8.4. Additional nights or additional services will be for the winner’s own account and must be agreed with the Promoter in advance.

8.5. The winner and all accompanying guests must comply with the house rules and any applicable rules of the Hans Merensky Golf Estate.

8.6. Any damage caused to the property or its contents by the winner or accompanying guests remains the responsibility of the winner and may be charged in accordance with the property’s standard terms.

 

9. General

9.1. No cash alternative will be offered for the prize.

9.2. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any participant who attempts to manipulate, abuse or unfairly influence the competition.

9.3. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, amend or extend the competition where reasonably necessary, subject to applicable law.

9.4. The Promoter will not be responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete, incorrectly submitted or not received for any reason.

9.5. Participation in the competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

 

10. Personal Information

10.1. Personal information collected from participants will be used only for purposes reasonably necessary to administer the competition, contact the winner and arrange the prize.

10.2. The Promoter will handle personal information in accordance with applicable South African privacy legislation.

 

11. Social Media Disclaimer

11.1. This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook, Instagram or Meta.

11.2. Participants release Facebook, Instagram and Meta from any liability arising from or relating to their participation in this competition.
