From the moment you arrive, Kruger Hippo Retreat offers a sense of privacy and connection with nature. The driveway has ample space for parking of vehicles.

The main entrance to the house is through Elephant Door, which leads into an open-plan living area and flows seamlessly into a fully equipped kitchen, dining and outdoor entertainment space.

The lounge includes comfortable seating and a Smart TV.

Kruger Hippo Retreat offers a fully equipped kitchen and dining area for self-catering purposes, with all basic amenities such as a fridge/freezer, oven, stove, microwave, kettle, toaster and water dispenser.

However, during your stay, a cooked breakfast is included and will be prepared daily for you by our Chef. This breakfast will include:

• 2 Eggs cooked to the guests’ preferences
• 2 Slices of Bacon 
• 1 Pork Sausage
• 1 Slice of a grilled tomato 
• 2 Slices of toast

Assistance with doing your shopping, Bush Dinners and preparing of other meals can be arranged upon booking.

Kruger Hippo Retreat has 4 bedrooms –

• Elephant Door leads into the main house with 3 bedrooms;
• Horn Door leads into “Room 4” which is a self-contained, private room.

Each room has an aircon, ceiling fan and an ensuite bathroom.

Linen, bath towels and amenities are provided.

The open-plan living area flows onto a stunning outdoor entertainment deck, complete with a swimming pool, bar, and outdoor cooking and dining area.

The Bar area is equipped with additional fridges for drinks and stocked with some local beers and wines, which can be purchased during your stay. 

There is also a gas braai and pizza oven on the deck to make outdoor dining the perfect social evening.

The entertainment area overlooks the beautiful Mala Mala dam and joins an overwater walkway aptly named “Hippopotamus Lane”, which leads out to our viewing deck.

The Entertainment area of the house joins an overwater walkway aptly named “Hippopotamus Lane”, which leads out over Mala Mala Dam to a viewing deck, Hippo Hide Sunken lounge and a fire pit on the side of the dam. 

The sunken lounge and hide looks straight onto the Mala Mala Dam, where a family of 3 hippo’s (mom, dad and baby) love to hang around. A large crocodile (+/- 4m) stays around the hide at bedtime. 

There is also a stunning Kids Playroom that has plenty of board games, coloring books and stationery to keep the kids entertained while the parents watch the hippos frolic in the sunset.
